Personal Advising for Graduate Students and Early Career Scholars

Early career academics or students in graduate programs alike face many of the same concerns:

It's a tough career that can feel insular. Wouldn't it benefit from appreciate an outside perspective?

I want to help you become a strong, confident scholar.

Supporting Humanities and Liberal Arts Scholarship

My doctoral degree in Digital Media from the Georgia Institute of Technology prepared me to support scholars from a range of disciplines.

Interested in external advising and academic career coaching but unsure if your work is a fit? All of my collaborations begin with a free consultation.

Finding the right person to help you means finding someone you trust. So here's my vibe:

In addition to journal articles, dissertations, class papers, and conference presentations: if you are writing for a popular media outlet or are engaged in science communication, I can also help with publicly engaged scholarship.

The methods I am most familiar with are close reading and textual analysis, cultural critique, grounded theory, qualitative methods such as interviews and surveys, historical and archival work, and research through design.

Though I am not a quantitative expert, I can assist you in interpreting and articulating your findings.

Your Dissertation and Beyond

Do you not know where to start? Or are you too in the weeds?

Do you feel like you're writing in circles?

Dissertations are daunting. It's likely this is the first time you have had to grapple with a problem this broad.

Let me help you

Dr. Schweizer was my advisor during my PhD and served as my dissertation chair. His edits on different projects are detailed and in-depth the first time around which might seem intimidating but helped me stay on schedule and avoid constant revisions. He is an excellent mentor and helped make my PhD process so much easier with his guidance on all things: dissertation, the job market, and life after the PhD. I would highly recommend having him as a mentor to help guide you through your PhD!

I'm still figuring out what will work best for people.

While I work to build my first cohort, rates will be $60 an hour ($50 for graduate students). You can mix-and-match Chats and Notes.
